Keira Knightley is steering clear of the kitchen this Christmas - because her cookery exploits usually end in tears.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star admits she is not a culinary expert, and can rarely rustle up a meal without creating a disaster.
Knightley insists she is always burning her dinner, or dropping dishes - but she's hoping someone will buy her a cookery book this year so she can improve her kitchen skills.
She says, "I am not the best cook in the world. I have tried, but I really am hopeless. I can cook maybe one dish. But even then, if you ate it, you'd probably end up with food poisoning. Recently, a friend explained how to make an eggplant bake. I brought it out of the oven in this beautiful bowl - and dropped it. It smashed all over the kitchen, and I burst into tears. Which is why I will ask Santa for some easy-to-understand cook books."

The Pope was knocked down by a woman at the start of the service in St Peter's Basilica.
The woman, who is reported to be mentally unstable, jumped the security barriers as Benedict XVI entered the basilica, causing the pontiff to fall.
The Pope appeared to be unhurt and recovered to lead the Mass.

| Couple sues Gene Simmons over alleged assault |

LOS ANGELES -- A couple in Los Angeles is suing Gene Simmons, saying they were assaulted by the KISS bassist.
Nathan Marlowe and his wife Cynthia Manzo say Simmons attacked them, threatened them and took their video camera at The Grove mall on Saturday after they were filming him.
The complaint says Marlowe asked Simmons for his view on monogamy, and Simmons then told him to get his shot and leave.
The rocker then allegedly lunged at Marlowe, taking the video camera. He turned on Manzo, the couple says, when she tried to get the camera back.
The couple is seeking damages of more than $25,000 for civil claims of assault, battery and infliction of emotional distress.
The couple also sought a restraining order against Simmons on Wednesday, but that was denied.
Simmons has not been arrested and no charges have been filed.

Michael Jackson. He invented Thriller.
Michael Joseph Jackson, a celebrity pop star, was born on August 29, 1958. He died unexpectedly on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.
Between 1993 and 1994 and separately between 2004 and 2005, Mr. Jackson was investigated by California law enforcement agencies for possible child molestation. He was acquitted of all such charges. The FBI provided technical and investigative assistance to these agencies during the cases. The Bureau also investigated threats made against Mr. Jackson and others by an individual who was later imprisoned for these crimes.

The Mexican Attorney General’s Office has released famed norteño singer and leader of Los Bravos del Norte band, Ramon Ayala, citing life-threatening health problems.
Ayala was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment due to the “critical deterioration of (his) health,” the AG’s office said, without providing further details.
The singer, who was arrested earlier this month while performing at a party attended by members of the Beltran Leyva drug cartel, had been ordered held for 40 days while authorities investigate his alleged links to drug trafficking.
The decision to release the musician will not impede the ongoing investigation, the AG’s office said.
Three people were killed during a shootout with authorities at that party. Cartel leader Arturo Beltran-Leyva was killed in a shootout in Mexico City a few days later.

| Nicolas Cage Faces New $36.7 Million Lawsuit |

Here's something Nicolas Cage didn't want for Christmas: Another multimillion dollar lawsuit.
Cage, 45, who says he's facing financial ruin after allegedly being duped by his former accountant, is being sued by a real estate company who says he failed to repay more than $5 million in loans.
Lawyers for Red Curb Investments also allege the actor, his former accountant and a mortgage broker defrauded them by not disclosing Cage's true financial picture, including his $6.3 million tax debt.
"[Our client] was assured that Cage had substantial assets consisting of high-end residential property, yachts, airplanes, antiques, custom automobiles, jewelry, furs ... to assure repayment of the [loan]," the lawsuit reads. "[But] the values of Cage's assets were grossly exaggerated."
Marty Singer, Cage's lawyer, tells PEOPLE: "Any claims that Nic Cage engaged in fraud or wrongful conduct is absurd and ridiculous."
All told, Red Curb is seeking at least $36.7 million for the original loan amounts, interest, damages, attorney fees and other costs.
Earlier this month, Christina Fulton, the mother of Cage's 18-year-old son, sued Cage for fraud for $13 million. He's also locked in a legal battle with his former accountant, who blames Cage's financial collapse on the actor's "compulsive, self-destructive spending."
Cage also faces another lawsuit filed by a bank which claims the actor failed to repay a $2 million loan that was extended this past August.

Gerard Butler is convinced an early role in a school nativity play set him on course for his breakthrough as King Leonidas in 300.
The Scottish actor shot to international stardom with his portrayal of the legendary Spartan monarch in the 2007 blockbuster.
And Butler admits he was ready for the role, having already played a King in an early Christmas pageant.
He tells Empire magazine, "I was one of the Three Kings in the Nativity, the one that brought the myrrh. I kept thinking, 'Why am I not bringing a gift that's worth something? What's my motivation?' Even then, I knew I was destined to play another king. 'He should be bringing an army of 300 guys and kicking some a**! This is boring!'"

Vic Chesnutt, a singer-songwriter from Athens, Ga., beloved by fans and critics for his disarmingly open songs about mortality and pain, is in a coma, his family has confirmed. They did not say what caused the coma.
News about Mr. Chesnutt’s condition spread through the Internet on Wednesday through posts on Twitter by the singer Kristin Hersh, who has played with him.
Mr. Chesnutt, 45, has been in a wheelchair since a car accident when he was 18, and was discovered in the late 1980s by Michael Stipe of R.E.M., who produced his first two albums. Since then Mr. Chesnutt has released at least a dozen more albums, including two this year, “At the Cut” and “Skitter on Take-Off.”
In a review of a recent concert in New York, Jon Pareles noted that Mr. Chesnutt’s songs contemplate “not just mortality but also the broader inevitability of collapse and decay.”

Miley's New Boyfriend -- History of Violence
Miley Cyrus' new boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, isn't just another pretty face -- dude has a bit of a punch to him.
Just a few months ago -- before he and Miley hooked up -- 19-year-old Liam (in the gray striped shirt) and his brother ("Star Trek" actor Chris Hemsworth) got into a full-on fistfight with some random dude after an event in Hollywood.
We're told it all went down after the brothers -- who are currently featured in Vanity Fair -- engaged in some late-night smack talk with the random guy. The brothers approached the dude -- and suddenly a 2-on-1 brawl broke out.
We're told event security broke up the fight -- and managed to separate everyone before cops were needed.
Hope Miley's into bad boys.

Since everyone keeps asking - it says "tie me to the bedpost".
From Malissa: Nick, Joe, Kevin Sr, Denise & Maya were shopping around NorthPark Center in Dallas, TX on Wednesday. They went into a lot of stores including Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Gamestop and The Finish Line. After the mall, Nick drove Joe & Maya to Guitar Center.
Nick showed the true meaning of Christmas when he purchased an electric guitar, gig bag & amp for a kid inside the store. I told Nick how amazing he was for doing that for some random kid. What an awesome Christmas present for just being at the right place at the right time!

| Family and Friends Gathering for Brittany's Funeral |

Here's hoping Brittany Murphy will soon be resting in peace.
Family members and a few close friends have started arriving at Los Angeles' Forest Lawn Memorial Park to say goodbye to the actress, who died last Sunday at 32.
Among those expected to attend are her husband, Simon Monjack, and mother, Sharon, as well as director Penny Marshall and longtime friend Eric Balfour. The 24 star, who once even performed in a band with Murphy, is also listed as one of the pallbearers for the intimate, invitation-only service, to take place at the cemetery's Church of the Hills.
( While the funeral will be a private affair, the family does have plans for another remembrance. )source

“All Hip Hop did was start reporting the news and the news just happened to be bad.”
There has been debate within the African-American community to figure out exactly what happened in the relations between Black men and Black women and why females are depicted and treated so negatively.
The finger of blame has been pointed directly at Hip Hop as the culprit of the images displayed on television and the lyrics rapped on records. This only feeds into the minds of the consumer and force feeds them into believing that this is how women are meant to be treated.
That is, however, only one side of the coin and only one perception being displayed.
Blame is placed on other outlets in order to relieve the strain from the image that are reflected in the mirror. Men didn't just start degrading women in Hip Hop, it started way before then and just happened to transition to it.

My Chemical Romance explain how Blade Runner, Judas Priest and a car inspired new album
Group have channelled 1980s for their next record
My Chemical Romance have revealed more details about their forthcoming fourth album.
Frontman Gerard Way said the follow-up to their 2006 concept album 'The Black Parade' has been influenced by muscle cars, the film Blade Runner and Judas Priest.
"The fact there's a song now tentatively titled 'Trans-Am' is a bold thing for this band to do as opposed to our previous material," Gerard Way told SpinnerMusic.co.uk. "There's something in that phrase that's obviously more than the car. But to bring something like old '70s muscle car culture into the music, that's kind of a different move."
Earlier in the year Way used Twitter to purchase a Trans Am car explaining that it was research for the album.
As previously reported, My Chemical Romance had revealed that the record was being influenced by MC5 and The Stooges, but Way explained how the 1980s have also influenced the album.
Talking about one of their new songs, 'Death Before Disco', Way admitted that the music of Judas Priest had shaped the album.
"That song actually reminded me in an odd way of all the best stuff of '80s what is called cock rock, but not all of it was," Way explained. "Judas Priest is considered metal, but it's great rock'n'roll. It's having nothing to do with that era of metal, the hair rock, but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal. After 'Trans Am' that started to really bleed into the record."
As well as music and wheels, the frontman added that the 1982 film Blade Runner had played a part in the recording sessions.
"I watched a lot of Blade Runner and I watched a lot of the Making Of Blade Runner, [director] Ridley Scott was really inspiring too, just kind of his unwillingness to put the camera down and really capture something special," he said. "People were upset by that, but he was very strong in his vision and I think the band was very strong in its vision this time. That's why the record took - instead of a month and a half to do - four months to track because our barometer for great was very high."
Their fourth LP, which was recorded in Los Angeles with Bruce Springsteen producer Brendan O'Brien, is due in spring 2010.

James Cameron in Major A-Hole Dispute??

James Cameron -- the guy who directed "Avatar" -- directed a few choice words at an autograph seeking fan last night -- calling the guy a "f**king a**hole" during an argument over a signature.
It all went down at LAX -- when James walked past a man holding an "Avatar" poster, and refused to sign. The man went back to Cameron and asked again to which James replied, "I don't owe you a f**king signature ... just get out of my f**king personal space."
That's when the fan lost it and replied, "I'm an asshole because I ask someone I admire for their autograph that makes me an a**hole? I make $15-an-hour at work to go see your film and I'm an a**hole?"
Ultimately, James calmly walked away from the situation while the fan continued to yell at him.
